The preliminary results of the 2014 Census indicates that , on the 16 May 20th, there were 2.354.398 people residing in the province of Huíla, including 1.117.342 males and 1.237.056 females.
Of the resident population distribution analysis the province has a high birth rate and a young population – 57% of the inhabitants are under 20 years old.
The Province of Huíla has a rural population corresponding to 66%
and an urban population of 32%, indicating , not only the rurality of the province, but the relevance of economic sectors such as agriculture, cattle breeding and continental fishing. . +
The natural wealth of Huíla is not limited in the referenced sectors: mining potential has been detected in Huíla’s land, for its abundance in deposits of metal ores such as gold and iron – it is estimated that the province holds iron with more than one billion tons – as well as non-metallic minerals, like diamonds, such as reserves as precious stones and ornamental stones like marble and granite. +

The National Development Plan 2013-2017, (NDP), defines as strategic options for the Province of Huíla, having as a priority the human capital qualification, , essential condition to answer the development challenges, based on the strengthening of the educational and vocational training system.+
Agricultural Potential and Water Resources
The Huíla Province is propitious to agriculture , but also to pastoralism with fertile lands, mild climate as well as water abundance, which stimulates the production of cattle, but also goats, sheep and swine. +
In the Industry sector is the strategy of the NPD, o develop an industrial base of agricultural products transformation and the supply of the markets in the southern provinces, in particular agricultural devices and equipment, based in an Industrial Center to develop in Lubango, linked to a network of industrial zones in a municipal level. +
The Private Investment Law , establishes the general bases of private investment in Angola, both internal and external, defining the principles and the rules to access the incentives as well as other benefits to be granted by the state.
The prioritary investment sectors, defined by the Private Investment Law and by the Law of Development of Angolan Business, are agricultural, mining, industrial, construction and infrastructure, health, tourism and hospitality sectors. To external private investors is guaranteed, during the implementation of the project and proof of the execution as established in the Investment Contract, the right to transfer dividends abroad, capital gains, royalties, compensation income from indirect investments, associated with the transfer of technology, after its deduction and payment of its due taxes. The Huíla Provincial Government offers to all the entrepreneurs whiling to invest in the province, a personalized support, working closely with the authorities as well as national agencies.
